How Do You Make A Timber Frame?

First you find a nice piece of land and design a house to fit it. Then you find suitable timbers and deliver them to the timber framer's shop.

2/02: After the joints are drawn onto each timber with a pen the joints are cut with chisel and saw. This joint is the top of a post that intersects four beams.

After the joinery is cut a large hand planer is run over the surface to give the timber a smooth finish.

Each timber is hand planed on all four sides.

All exposed corners of each timber get a chanfer cut which gives the edge a radius.

There are over 100 timbers in our frame ....

.... which requires alot of team work.
